Canmore Downtown Hostel is a gem! Seriously, if you're looking for the best possible base for exploring Banff and Kananaskis, this is it. The location is unbeatable—right on the main street, steps away from all the amazing cafes, breweries, and gear shops Canmore has to offer. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, offering tips on local hikes and trail conditions that were way better than anything I found online. What truly sets this place apart is their outstanding kindness and accommodation. I was recovering from elbow and hand surgery and had requested a lower bed. The team went above and beyond by upgrading me to a room with a private bathroom to make my stay easier. That level of care is truly exceptional. Speaking of convenience, a huge bonus is the free underground parking with super easy access directly to the hostel via lift. After a long drive, being able to pull into a heated, secure spot and take an elevator straight up with your bags is a game-changer. The rooms were spotless, the beds were surprisingly comfortable, and the shared kitchen was large, clean, and stocked with everything you could possibly need to cook your own meals and save a little money. The vibe here is fantastic. It's a great place to meet fellow travellers, but it's also quiet enough to get a great night's sleep after a big day on the trails. It truly feels more like a cozy, well-run lodge than a typical hostel. Highly, highly recommend this spot—it’s excellent value and made my trip to the Rockies unforgettable!

The hostel itself was great, super friendly staff and the main area, washrooms, and bedrooms were very clean and modern. The one thing to keep in mind is that the hostel beds, specifically the top bunks, are incredibly hot. I am not sure if this was my room specifically (room A bed A1 mixed dorm), however the temperature was so warm and humid I considered sleeping on the ground. Normally warm temperatures in hostels don’t bother me but this was so unmanageable I can’t even explain how hot it was. If this sounds like something that would bother you, I suggest trying to get a bottom bunk as they were def way less warm or bringing light clothes or even a small plug in fan. Other than this the hostel was great and I am sure it is just something wrong with their heating system that can most likely be fixed.

Beautiful spot with awesome mountain views. Front desk staff were lovely and helpful. Kitchen was clean and functional. Stayed in the 8 bed shared room with ensuite bathroom. The privacy curtains, bedside power outlet, night light and locker made my stay more comfortable and convenient. Location was perfect. Away from downtown Canmore but was part of a complex with food options. Parking was good with a parking lot right outside the hostel with a carpark should that be full. Only feedback I have is that it would’ve been good for the bathroom sink to be larger as it was difficult to wash your face without water ending up on the floor.

For my first hostel experience this was very impressive! Great facility, cleaned daily, quiet, very accomodating and the staff were lovely. I would highly recommend staying here!
