Stayed here for a week at the end of January during what felt like Ottawa’s annual “let’s see if humans can survive –30°C” festival. Thankfully, the Courtyard by Marriott Ottawa Downtown was the exact opposite of the weather outside. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well laid out, with excellent beds that made it very easy to recover after a long day of work and short bursts of outdoor survival. The room also had a proper desk setup, which is always appreciated on a business trip. The staff were friendly and helpful all week, and the lobby is actually a great place to relax: comfortable seating, a fireplace, and a welcoming atmosphere. Best small touch: complimentary cookies and refreshing water in the lobby every day. When it’s –30°C outside, a warm hotel and a free cookie feels like five-star luxury. Great downtown location, comfortable stay, and a reliable place to thaw out after facing Ottawa winter. Would happily stay here again.

Courtyard by Marriott Downtown Ottawa 4/5 Pleasing This was an excellent stay and I really don’t have any major complaints, just annoyances. The hotel itself was very clean and easy to access etc. The front door is locked to try to help with keeping people out who should not be there technically. I felt safe in the neighborhood, so it’s not really that big of an issue for me. The staff were very friendly and super helpful. Had an issue with the wifi and it was fixed in a quick and professional manner. Thank you. My annoyance has to do with being charged $40 to “self park” in a lot that was half empty. This fee was not mentioned when booking, or at least it was not mentioned clearly. In fact I booked this hotel because it had a big parking lot, not thinking (my bad) that they would want $40 to park. Another minor complaint is that I was charged $20 for a guest. It was me and my 18 and 16 year old children. Again, felt like a hidden fee, as I paid the standard rate for a room with 2 queens. I now know to be more vigilant next time, but having to spend an extra $50 was mildly annoying. These things are not all on Marriott, as I should have checked. Overall I was extremely happy with the stay. Those are just the reasons for 4 stars, not 5. Faculty? Excellent Staff? Excellent Location? Excellent Room? Excellent TV? Excellent

Haven’t stayed here yet, but passed by during my Winterlude walk and was immediately drawn to the location. Courtyard by Marriott Ottawa Downtown sits right in the centre of the ByWard Market, which makes it an excellent option for visitors who want to explore Ottawa’s food scene and nearby landmarks on foot. From restaurants to historic sites, everything is just steps away. Hoping to stay here in the future to experience it properly. Update: Thanks for the kind message. I’m glad the first impression was a good one, and I appreciate the hospitality. I’ll keep your hotel in mind when planning a future stay.

My family stayed at this hotel the 2nd week of December (2025) and we loved it. Clean rooms and amenities. The best was the heated pool. It was so relaxing. We stayed in the pool for over 1.5 hours. Nice and warm. The stress just melted away. Friendly staff. Good location. Highly recommend!
