First visit to this hotel. I am a long-time Marriott member and always stay at these hotels. I had never been to this hotel because it was often too expensive for our company's booking policy. I had high expectations for this hotel based on its reputation and price. What a disappointment! The rooms are old, with carpet everywhere, really dated and worn-out furniture, decor stuck in the 90s, and a bathroom from the 1990s too. In short, for the price, I would have expected much better. The staff are friendly and attentive, but it's a far way from the usual standards in terms of the quality of the environment (outside of the staff). On the other hand, it was quiet, I slept well and ate well. There were some minor frustrations, such as not being able to control the temperature in the room (cool it down) other than by opening the window, and the thermostat screen in the room staying on at night, which meant there was always a light on in the room. I would only go back if I had an event really close by, as the proximity to Old Montreal was nice.

Exceptional Stay at Hotel St Paul, it is the Montreal Gem. I had an outstanding stay at Hotel St Paul in Montreal. The location is absolutely perfect, right in the heart of Old Montreal, making it incredibly easy to explore the city’s historic charm on foot. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and beautifully maintained, with every detail thoughtfully considered. You can really feel the care that goes into creating a comfortable and elegant environment. The staff were exceptionally attentive and welcoming, always ready to help with anything we needed. Their professionalism truly elevated our experience. The lobby’s architecture and design are stunning, creating an atmosphere that is both stylish and warm from the moment you walk in. And the breakfast was excellent, offering high-quality options that set the tone for a great day. I would say that the Hotel St Paul exceeded our expectations in every way. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Montreal.

I recently booked a business meeting room along with guest rooms and catering for some out of town colleagues and the experience was outstanding! Clarisse and Mikael were incredibly warm, helpful, and efficient from start to finish. Every detail—from the room setup to the food arrangements—was handled flawlessly, making our event smooth and stress-free. Their professionalism and genuine care truly stood out. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Hotel St. Paul for a business or personal stay.

Location is fantastic. We would definitely stay there again next time we are in town. It was our first visit and this location was walkable to many places including restaurants and cafes. The only thing to be aware of is they do have steps up to the building. I didn't see any handicap ramps, so if you have any sort of disability, keep that in mind. The hotel staff are wonderful about helping with luggage during open hours. We loved our room, and also the decor. We arrived late but within minutes of the hotel restaurant closing. They were very accommodating and thenJapanese food was delicious. Everyone was gracious and attentive.
