We came up to the canadian rockies for my wifes 70th birthday. The scenery was spectacular. Far more impressive than anything I had seen in photos or travelogs. We stayed at the JCL&B 2 nites after meeting the owner 2 summers ago . The location is at the mouth of Johnston Canyon with cabins and bungalows for rent that have been family owned and operated since 1926! The cabins are very quant but very comfortable and extremely well maintained. Ours had a full kitchen with period looking stove , refrigerator ,kettle, toaster which all had a convincing antique style but were quite modern! It also had a microwave. The furniture was unique and comfortable as was the bed. The cabin had a stone fireplace with wood provided which was a nice feature for the cold fall nights. It also had a wood stove type gas heater which did most of the heating very effectively. The cabin was warm in spite of temps in the mid-teens ( F). The bathrooms were also very well equipped and spotless .The nights were absolutely silent except for some rain sprinkling.. The restaurant ("Bistro") on site was really excellent with resort prices as expected, but very high quality .

Fantastic facility. In a great location after Banff for the drive to Jasper, as we were doing. Staff were flexible and the accommodation was everything we needed. Not sure if the propane heater was working but they'd thought ahead and there was a backup electric heater in the room. Highly recommend.

Stayed for 1 night only. Cabin was spacious, cozy and warm for us and our small dog. Bathroom and standing shower was small and narrow, but was spotless.

Had a fantastic time staying here for our honeymoon. We stayed in cabin 7 which is perched on a hill overlooking the river. We spent each morning of our 3 night stay drinking coffee on our deck and listening to the sounds of the river. It was serene. We had several meals at the restaurant below us and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and service. The food was great and the staff were very friendly. We met a couple of the owners at dinner on our final night and when we were getting ready to leave the next day one of them, Tim, stopped by to thank us for the visit. He was very friendly and took an interest in our background. I would highly recommend staying here. We will definitely come back the next time we are in Banff.
