Some might not like this far from the city centre, but the building is a historic artefact and I’ve only seen a youth hostel on the beach one other time: in Kihei Hawaii. The hallways and rooms are the most spacious I’ve ever seen in all my time in Hostel If you want hot water for shower just wait about 10 minutes in the girls dorm, but once it comes, it’s awesome shower pressure and lots of heat. Make sure you go out and see the feral bunnies by the sailing centre Or eat at the sailing club restaurant – – they have excellent food and beautiful Vista especially at Sunset

Stayed in their 18 bed coed dorm and it wasn’t nosy at all. They have curtains separating bunks by 4 so really there are just 4 beds in each area. Big windows kept the air circulating but there are no individual lamps, no individual curtains, no charging ports so you need to charge it in the common areas. I slept in the bed the closest to the door but honestly it wasn’t bad. Bathrooms were spacious and clean, especially the women washroom on the second floor; I’ve never seen a hostel bathroom sink area so well lighted. They give you a towel and have body wash in the washrooms. Kitchen was a miss; dozens of flies swamped the bins and tables so you better keep an eye on your food. Sinks were often clogging and the area next to the oil traps smelled. Pots and pans were all pretty banged up with burned bits and scraped cooking surfaces. The walk to the grocery store wasn’t bad at all; it’s a beautiful 15 mins walk through a very clean and well kept park with tree cover and soft soil trails, then 5 mins through a peaceful neighbourhood. It’ll be an adventure to drag your luggage through all that to get to the bus though so just spend the money on a ride unless you have minimal luggage. No free parking, I believe it’s 15 bucks at the back. Lots of good people in this place. 1 min walk to the beach and a pier where people trap crabs and fish. Glad I chose this place instead of their downtown location and will be back again!

I stayed 2 weeks in end of June while I was waiting to move in to new accommodation. Close to beach, 20 mins away from downtown with bus and 20 mins walk to closes grocery store. It has activity board which great way to meet people. This place was great and had friendly staff. But lack of some important things is reason I rather stay at Hi Downtown hostel next. Like there was no good ventilation at 18 bed rooms, barley any outlet to charge electrical things . Also no reading lamps/ curtains to each bed . And noise from door slamming everytime someone comes in and out. Kitchen utilities also need change as they were old. The lack of outlet was most annoying thing as I want sit down and work on something on my laptop, but there was no quite space to sit down to do so without outlets..

super chill hostel! spacious, nicely located, steps away from the beach, easy access to transport. I stayed there twice, once for a few days, then for a night. the first dorm I got was clean, quiet and aired. here are a few cons; one aisle of the building didn’t have any electricity in the dorms. which meant we couldn’t charge our electronics, nor couldn’t turn off the main lights before 11pm.. they didn’t even mentioned that detail. that was on my second stay, so only for a night. the breakfast isn’t really a breakfast. industrial boiled eggs, same goes for the wannabe fruit salad, bread and cereals.
