I lived here for 4 years. In that timeframe I experienced bedbug infestations twice (Oct - Dec 2023, Sept 2024 until I moved out Feb 2025). My experience with bedbugs in this apartment was awful. I was told by Nicole (apartment manager/landlord) that I was responsible for paying for the treatments, and that this was standard for any tenant in this building should pest issues arise. This is not true, and is illegal as per the Residential Tenancies Act. She also blamed the fact that I work with a low income population on the fact that I apparently (no proof of this, obviously) brought bedbugs into the building, and claimed that there are no bedbugs in the building outside of my old unit (Unit 316). She made the same claim about not having any pest issues when I found a dead cockroach in the laundry room in August 2024. I later spoke to one of my neighbours about the bedbugs to ensure they were aware my unit was infested, and I learned that they were dealing with cockroaches since moving in that had been brought to the attention of the apartment complex. Meaning, if you experience pest issues in this building you are not alone even if you are told otherwise by Nicole. I had to go through the Landlord Tenant Board to reclaim the money I had to spend out of pocket (approx $1200, not to mention the significant amount I had to spend outside of this to manage the bedbug infestation) on bedbug treatments. Despite my negative experience with Nicole and this building as a whole, I can say that I had consistently positive experiences with two of the maintenance workers (Tim and Julio). They are both hardworking, kind individuals and that deserves to be acknowledged. I have been bedbug free since I moved out at the end of February, but I want to ensure others looking at renting from this property (especially my old unit!) are aware of the risks associated with this building.

I don't often give 5 star reviews but this reflects the level of care that everyone working here provides. Units are nice and spacious. We all know that rent is high everywhere in Ottawa so it may seem like every other building, but this team will absolutely take care of you. I've rented in numerous neighbourhoods of Ottawa for over a decade, and this is the first time I felt like I was actually paying for a service instead of just the bare minimum. As an immunocompromised person, I have found that a lot of places grumble at how much work you're making them do when you really just want a bit of protection. The Gilboa Place team takes things extremely seriously and are always willing to accommodate. I've honestly never felt safer and more at home.

Pretty sure they're deleting negative comments. I had a viewing and the place was disgusting. First thing I saw when I walked in was a big dead moth. Clean your apartments before a showing. It looks so bad on management. The viewing agent just kept saying " we'll clean it before you move in". Yea right. plus there were cigarette butts all around the front entrance. It's illegal to smoke in front of a residential building, but the manager was smoking there anyways. I left a negative review, using my real name, on their website after my viewing and it mysteriously was never posted. There also don't seem to be any reviews with less than 5 stars. I ended up getting an apartment that was $20 more a month and is in a much cleaner building.

The townhouse units are very well planned for growing families. The rental price is very reasonable. Too bad they do not accept people on disability income benefits . I came from BC where I payed upwards of 2500 per month and I have a previous landlord that can speak on my behalf, my credit is above 600, I provided all supporting documents and yet was denied for a unit of $2050. The only thing that I can see is that I do not have a JOB. This is a violation of my Civil Rights!!!
